Disney+ | Launch Day is Here!

The wait is finally over!

It feels like it’s been years, but Disney+ is finally here. I added the channel to my Roku at 3am. That’s right, I woke up and my first thought was “I wonder if Disney+ is up yet?” And there it was ready to add to my channels.

And boy oh boy, does it deliver on its promises or what?

As soon as you open it up, the possibilities are endless. I was like a kid in a candy store. Which show do I watch first? I want to cry because IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT.

My brain says to watch the new Star Wars show The Mandalorian first to avoid spoilers, but my eyes are distracted from all the cartoons I loved as a child in the 90s. Darkwing Duck, X-Men, Spider-Man, Chip and Dale, Gargoyles, Duck Tales....you name it, they got it. And that’s when I knew. That although this platform will be great for my niece and nephew, this was actually for ME. And they’ll be lucky if they get one of my 4 streams to watch.

And while the shows are very enticing, there are the movies. SO MANY MOVIES. I almost wanted to watch Endgame this morning because it’s been months, but I knew I needed to make smart choices this morning before I headed off to work. And then my eyes caught the DCOM movies. YALL. DCOM’s (Disney Channel Original Movies) pretty much ruled my childhood. Did I already say I wanted to cry? Cause I’m already in tears thinking about this perfection.

GUYS. Disney did it. I was growing weary of the streaming wars and subscriptions, but they might have won it out the gate on day one. Disney has an impressive catalog all on its own, but with the acquisition of FOX properties with Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars, they blow every other streaming platform out of the water.

Keep in mind though, the original content is very limited right now. And we probably won’t see any of the Marvel ones until 2020/2021. Like WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Ms. Marvel, etc. OH. And don’t leave out Lizzie McGuire and a few more Star Wars series as well.

I’m not saying delete every other subscription you have. Because each has its own offerings that you can’t get anywhere else. But I am saying that if I had to pick one streaming service today on the spot, it would be Disney+.

What are you watching first? Leave a comment and let me know.
